Each of us experience times of sorrowful tears, disappointment, and heartache. As with this little child, Jesus reaches out to us and asks – as he did Mary Magdalane at the tomb – “why weepest thou?” Regardless of the reason for our suffering, He is able to comfort us. The well and the water bucket in the painting symbolize His ability to provide us with Living Water and the early morning light reminds us of the hope that shines after even the darkest of nights. If we will follow the example of this young child, meek and humble, the Savior will encircle us with His love and dry the tears of our sorrow. — Simon Dewey
