Author - History of the Saints
Between 1856 and 1860, there were ten handcart companies that crossed the plains, not just two. There were three companies before Willie and Martin, and five companies after. What is their story? What was common to all those who pulled a handcart? This book answers those questions. It contains excerpts from the journals of those who walked in all ten companies. It is hoped that youth and families will take this book and go to such places as Iowa City, Chimney Rock, Red Buttes, Martin's Cove, Rocky Ridge, and Rock Creek Hollow and read the pioneers' words as they stand on or near where those early Saints stood.
History of the Saints is a private non-profit entity dedicated to the research and teaching of Latter-day Saint history. Dennis Lyman, Bryant Bush, and Glenn Rawson originally began working together as part of the Joseph Smith Papers and have continued their efforts to make early Church history as accurate, understandable and accessible to a general audience as possible.
