About the Author:
Marianne Monson holds a BA in English Literature, and MA in English Pedagogy, and an MFA in Creative Writing. The author of two historical novels, she has a strong interest in the relationship between literature and history. Marianne has taught English and Creative Writing at Portland Community College and BYU-Hawaii, and regularly speaks at writing conferences. She is the author of eight books for children and adults.

Frontier Grit
I chose this book, out of the boxful, to read first. I am so glad I did, it is well researched, written, a darn good read. The many women who chose a different path were outstanding business women, politicians, fighters for human rights, wives, mothers, widows, never married. They left their individual marks on the frontier.

I could not put this book down. These women did remarkable and brave things in their lives. It make me realise how much I owe my freedoms to them.
